Community History: New Hope Missionary Baptist Church was established in 1876. The New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery is behind the church building. The community had a Rosenwald School, the New Hope School, which was built in 1925-26 just west of the church. It was a three-teacher school with a library. Nearby is Guiding Star Church of God in Christ, formerly Guiding Star Sanctified Church. The Guiding Star Sanctified Church Cemetery is adjacent to the church.
