Public History: “History: Named after an area in northeast Bastrop County on the Fayette County border, where three leagues of property met, former slaves of the white landowners created this community after the Civil War. One of the wealthy white settler families, the Cunninghams, were in great debt after the war and in 1874 the land was sold in 40-acre tracts to pay their debts. Former slaves and early Center Union pioneers bought some of these tracts. Descendants of some of these families continue to own the land.

Community History: My family is from all over Bastrop, and I am a direct descendant of one of the founders of Antioch AME. My grandmother was born in Center Union. I have alot of stories and info. I lived off of 304 and 2571 before migrating to Austin. I would love to share. Thank you.
