Community History: Freeport Texas was founded around 1917. It chartered a “Negro Reservation ” in the 1930’s and was claimed later locally called the Freeport “East-End” Community. Black families, that were primarily children of slaves from the Levi-Jordan Plantation of Brazoria Texas, migrated to the east end and established the total community. Property was bought in this refuse community by black people that was plowed with multiple active pipelines and had little to no surface value, yet a community grew and thrived.
