Public History: Pleasant Green is a rural community that was established after the Civil War by emancipated slaves. The Pleasant Green Baptist Church, founded in 1871, was the focal point of the community. After WWII the town declined, and by the 1990s only the church remained. Some descendants still lived in the area by the 1990s, but there are no records.
