Public History: As I was looking in the archives on Grimes county Nicholas Chapel was mentioned in the 1950s folder. Nicholas chapel was described at the time being between Rocky Creek, Shiro, and Roans Prairie. Nicholas chapel was also described hosting 4-H events for women such as preparing thanks giving meals and general home improvement. The Nicholas Chapel was also ran by the Kennard family. This has been the only mention of them. There was a total of 16 women’s clubs and 13 Girls clubs documented and connected to different communities (Hopewell, Shiro, Piedmont, Roans Prairie, Rocky Creek, Anderson, Pine Grove, Bethel Grove, Navasota, Northwood, Blackberry, Stoneham, Courtney, Mt. Pleasant, Iola, St. Holland, Green Valley, St. Martinsville, Courtney, and Plantersville )
