Community History: My father once told me and showed me where he was born, a place he called Fort Prairie. His family had some land there, prior to moving into East Austin. There are some local history buffs who have researched records which seem to confirm that a former Black enclave of sorts, with a school if not a church too, was located there. I’ve also seen an inventory of graves at Rogers Hill Cemetery that names one of my grandfathers being buried there.
